The best sessions are ones that hold special meaning to the clients. We’d done two sessions at the house Ellie grew up in, three sessions at Ellie and Mike’s current house, and one session at a local park. When decided where to do the next session, I asked Ellie to please think of somewhere that they go all the time and really reflects who they are as a family right now. She sort of laughed and said, “You know, we do go to Vicki’s a lot. What do you think about the diner?” Well, I thought that was an awesome idea, because we could also incorporate the town into their session. Ellie and Mike both grew up in Westfield, and moved back once they had kids (Matt and I did the same thing!), so having their session in Downtown Westfield was a really great idea. We started at Vicki’s Diner, then headed down Broad Street past Jersey Mike’s sub shop, The Rialto Theater, and ended at Mindowaskin Park.
Future clients, take note. Not only did this family pick a perfect location for them, but they also did an amazing job of coordinating their outfits without being too matchy matchy. The bright colors were perfect for a Downtown Westfield summer session. I am a pretty active pinner on Pinterest, and I have a board dedicated to What to Wear for Clients. Take a look if you are in need of some outfit inspiration. Remember, you can’t just think about what you are wearing, but also where you will be wearing it!
