{Hints of Spring} Westfield, New Jersey Photographer

As the snowy days start to turn into rainy days, and we begin waking up to a little bit of light peeking through our windows, we’re beginning to catch little glimpses at spring.  The drive home isn’t so dark, and after nap time, we’re actually willing to venture outside for an impromptu adventure.

What are you doing to prepare for spring?  We’ve already started to add a little more color to our home by way of flowers.  Closets and other storage spaces are getting an overhaul – not just out of necessity because of the expected arrival of our newest addition, but also because there is some sort of… natural internal drive that seems to be chanting inside our heads, “out with the old, in with the new!” and “time for a fresh start!”

A lot of people think of spring as a time for renewal, and I’ll gladly endorse that school.  I don’t think it’s a time to start over, but rather a time to give your current state of being a makeover.  I know it may seem a little early, but ending the month of February with temperatures that reflect mid-April, it’s hard not to get the itch to clean, organize, renew!

So tell me, what is your favorite (or most satisfying) spring task?  I think for us it is “spring cleanup”.  Outside and in, we’ll weed through and place all of our “unwanteds” at the curb.  We’ve been waiting for this since we moved last May – we had moved in after spring cleanup, so everything that didn’t have a place was piled into our garage and basement.  Once spring cleanup comes around, we’re going to be able to actually park in our two car garage. Amazing.

  • I totally agree with the cleanout! My husband suddenly decided to clean out the basement yesterday, and within a few hours he had completely transformed the space. And he didn’t even ask me to help!

Found you in Picture Inspiration, but it seems we’ve done a few TC classes together (I’m on there as jenny.pdx). Hope you’re feeling better, and getting rest!
