{A Quiet Moment} Westfield New Jersey Child Photographer

They’ve been few and far between these days.

Thaya has reached another stage in her little four year old being where she is exploring her autonomy and is testing the waters.  She has been a challenge, as she has discovered that she can use her words to directly affect other people’s feelings and reactions.

Aubrie has reached another stage in her little 2.5 year old being where she is exploring her autonomy and is testing the waters.  She has been a challenge, as she has discovered that whining, screaming, and having a meltdown can *potentially* get her what she wants (though it never ever does).

They have also been on a super short fuse.  They will “use their words” like “big girls” once, and if they don’t get a response, they immediately flip. the. flip. out.

Mama is losing her patience.

Luckily, bedtime comes (almost) at the same time every night, and tomorrow is a new day.

*deep cleansing breaths*

And the lesson I’ve been teaching to both of them on a daily basis? Repeat after me: We use our words with love and kindness… we use our words with love and kindness… we use our words with love and kindness…

  • Oh mantras are at an all time high here. My son is a wanderer and a dreamer. Its takes him forever to do anything. He takes so long getting it done he often misses out on things he wants do. Our mantra is “Move with deliberance.” I hear it a thousand times a day it seem. Don’t worry you’ll weather this “stage” and it will end just in time for the next big one when school starts.;)
